From 1850's up to 1920's (roughly 3/4 of a century) many buildings in Lisbon were covered with glazed tiles. A significant number still exist. The picture shows one of the patterns used. In this particular case the tiles were made and applied in the 19th century. Tomorrow I shall post an example of a building covered with such tiles.

nice work, reminds me of Madrid too, lots of the building there seem to be clad in these amazing tiles.

Lovely detail of the tiles. I like seeing it after having seen the building (I'm working my way backwards.)
